Students Come Together for a Cause at One Student, One Shirt Kickoff

Taylor's Residence Management Team and the LaunchPad Resident Committee kicking off the One Student, One Shirt campaign.

‍

Taylor's Residence officially kicked off its One Student, One Shirt campaign on 21 October 2026 at Syopz Mall, bringing together students, staff and the campus community in a collective effort to support sustainability and address period poverty.

Organised by Taylor's Residence in support of LaunchPad, with Syopz Mall as Sustainability Partner, the campaign aims to collect 20,000 pre-loved cotton T-shirts to support the production of reusable sanitary pads for women and girls in underserved communities.

From Donation to Hands-On Experience

The kickoff event featured more than just a T-shirt collection drive. Through an interactive Trace–Cut–Sew activity, participants had the opportunity to learn how pre-loved cotton T-shirts can be repurposed into reusable sanitary pads.

Students were guided through the process of tracing, cutting and sewing, with many showing keen interest and taking the opportunity to make a reusable pad themselves.

The hands-on experience offered participants a better understanding of the effort involved in producing reusable sanitary pads, while raising awareness of period poverty and the importance of making menstrual hygiene products more accessible.

Celebrating the People Behind the Purpose

The event was made possible with the dedication and support of the LaunchPad Residents' Committee, whose members helped facilitate the activities and engage participants throughout the day.

Notably, several committee members who had already moved out of the residence returned to volunteer and support the initiative, demonstrating a strong sense of commitment and community that extends beyond their time at Taylor's Residence.

Their contributions, together with the participation of donors and volunteers, helped bring the campaign's message of Donate · Repurpose · Empower to life.

The Collection Continues Until 31 December 2026

While the kickoff event has concluded, One Student, One Shirt is still ongoing, and contributions are welcome as Taylor's Residence works towards its goal of collecting 20,000 T-shirts.

Every donated cotton T-shirt brings the campaign one step closer to supporting LaunchPad's efforts to transform pre-loved fabric into reusable sanitary pads.
