‍Taylor's Residence Redefines Student Living Through Purpose, Leadership and ESG

National award recognitions reinforce Taylor's Residence's vision of developing future-ready graduates while creating lasting social and environmental impact.

Subang Jaya, Malaysia, [22 July, 2026] – Taylor's Residence is redefining the role of student living by transforming residential communities into living-learning environments where students develop leadership, empathy and environmental responsibility while creating meaningful impact beyond campus.

This vision was recently recognised at the ESG Positive Impact Awards, where Taylor's Residence received multiple honours for its Service-Learning ESG initiatives. LaunchPad received the Gold Award for Relations with Local Communities for empowering Orang Asli communities through service-learning, while REGrow received the Silver Award for its innovative circular sustainability initiative that transforms food waste into valuable resources supporting environmental restoration and community livelihoods.

These achievements build on Taylor's Residence's growing portfolio of national and international recognition, including the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia Awards 2023 for Outstanding Contribution to Regional Development and the Asia Pacific Student Accommodation Association (APSAA) Excellence in Student Experience – University Award 2025 and 2026, reinforcing its position as a leader in purpose-driven student living.

Together, LaunchPad and REGrow exemplify Taylor's Residence's integrated ESG approach, where community impact, environmental stewardship and experiential learning are embedded into everyday residential life. More than award-winning initiatives, they demonstrate how purposeful student living develops socially responsible graduates while creating measurable value for communities and the environment.

Established in 2019, LaunchPad began by supporting refugee communities before expanding its reach to Orang Asli communities across Malaysia. Today, the initiative addresses menstrual health inequality through health and sex education, women's health awareness, health screenings and hands-on workshops where participants learn to produce reusable sanitary pads from upcycled materials.

Beyond providing sustainable menstrual products, LaunchPad equips women and girls with knowledge, practical skills and confidence while helping reduce long-term financial burdens and break the stigma surrounding menstruation. Its unique empowerment model sees Taylor's Residence students working alongside healthcare professionals and NGO partners to train refugee women, who are then empower Orang Asli women—creating a sustainable ripple effect where beneficiaries become educators, strengthening communities long after each programme concludes.

Complementing this social impact is REGrow, Taylor's Residence's award-winning circular sustainability initiative. Food waste generated by residents and staff is transformed through Black Soldier Fly bioconversion into organic fertiliser and larvae biomass, diverting waste from landfill, reducing carbon emissions and supporting sustainable agriculture. The organic fertiliser is donated to Orang Asli communities, while students actively participate in waste segregation, environmental monitoring and sustainability initiatives, turning everyday living into meaningful environmental action.

Together, LaunchPad and REGrow provide students with authentic opportunities to work alongside NGOs, healthcare professionals, sustainability partners and community leaders to solve real-world challenges. Through these experiences, students develop leadership, collaboration, empathy, resilience, critical thinking and sustainability competencies while translating ESG principles into meaningful action.

These recognitions inspire us to continue innovating and raising the benchmark for purpose-driven student living, demonstrating how residential experiences can become a powerful platform for developing future-ready graduates while creating lasting value for communities and the environment."

To date, LaunchPad has partnered with 21 NGOs and community organisations, positively impacted more than 1,590 refugees and Orang Asli community members, empowered 422 Taylor's students and residents, and produced over 5,300 reusable sanitary pads made from upcycled materials.

Meanwhile, REGrow has diverted more than 791 kg of food waste from landfill, prevented approximately 1.98 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, and produced 127 kg of organic fertiliser and 98 kg of Black Soldier Fly larvae biomass, demonstrating how everyday actions can generate measurable environmental outcomes while supporting sustainable community livelihoods.

Looking ahead, Taylor's Residence will continue expanding its portfolio of student-led ESG initiatives through strategic partnerships that extend learning beyond the residence and into the communities it serves. As expectations of student living continue to evolve, Taylor's Residence remains committed to redefining the residential experience—not simply as a place to stay, but as a platform that develops future-ready graduates, empowers communities and contributes to a more sustainable future.
