Taylor’s Residence hosted the LaunchPad Impact Day Workshop on 6 March at U Lounge, Taylor’s Residence in conjunction with International Women’s Day and this year’s theme, “Give to Gain”. The event brought together staff from Taylor’s Assets and Taylor’s Residence to learn more about the LaunchPad initiative and to experience firsthand how the programme continues to grow through the collective efforts of the Taylor’s community.

The event was graced by the presence of Sheena Angelina, President of TEG Assets and Taylor’s Hostel Management, whose leadership reflects a strong commitment to advancing women’s empowerment and community-driven initiatives.

LaunchPad was first introduced in 2019 as a student-led initiative focused on producing reusable cloth pads for refugees' women. Over the years, the programme has continued to evolve through the involvement of students, staff, and partners who support its mission.

In 2025, LaunchPad has moved into its next phase, shifting its focus towards deeper community collaboration. The initiative is currently working closely with the Orang Asli community in Kampung Serendah, where the programme aims to empower women through skills development and participation in the production of reusable pads.

During the workshop, staff participated in a pad testing experience, exploring the water absorption and functionality of the reusable pads developed through LaunchPad. This was followed by an interactive Pad Factory experience, where participants rotated through stations to experience the production process, including fabric cutting, fabric sorting, and pad sewing.

It was also encouraging to see how something that began as a student-led initiative has grown over the years. During the session, the student committee worked alongside staff to guide participants through the pad testing and pad production activities, demonstrating how a simple idea can grow into a shared effort within the Taylor’s community.

The session also captured the spirit of this year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Give to Gain”. By contributing their time, skills, and support to the pad initiative, staff and students strengthened a programme that continues to create opportunities for women in the community.

Looking ahead, the LaunchPad team is working together with the Orang Asli community towards a shared milestone of producing 2,000 reusable pads by June 2026, further expanding the initiative’s reach and impact.
